Joseph Henri Altes short biography

The noted French composer and flutist, Joseph Henri Altes was a student of Tulou at the Paris Conservatoire. During his studies Altes received the most prestigious awards as a composer. In 1848, Altes was appointed first flutist at the Paris Opera and in 1968 assumed the professorship of the Conservatoire. Altes was highly acclaimed as one of the greatest flutists of his generation.
